The rise of Gai, Chinese hip hop icon and The Rap of China winner who went from contestant to judge on the hit reality show

Chinese hip-hop star Gai has come a long way since he first appeared as a contestant on season one of the hit music reality show The Rap of China three years ago.In the current fourth season of the show, Gai – real name Zhou Yan – has moved from contestant to judge alongside other stars including Kris Wu Yifan and Wilber Pan.
