An unfamiliar New Year’s Day time slot for the Doctor, although it’s one that means showrunner Chris Chibnall doesn’t feel obliged to shoehorn in a festive theme. Instead, this is a good, old-fashioned monster face-off as Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord and her companions encounter “the most dangerous creature in the universe”, one that has designs on controlling the planet.
